Folger Shakespeare Library staff, "Edward III, second edition," Shakespeare Documented, https://doi.org/10.37078/225.

Folger Shakespeare Library, STC 7502 copy 1. See Shakespeare Documentedhttps://doi.org/10.37078/225.

This is the second edition of Edward III, printed by Simon Strafford for Cuthburt Burby in 1599.

Like the first edition, this edition does not include an authorial attribution, but nonetheless the play was included as one of three plays attributed to William Shakespeare in the catalogue of books appended to Thomas Goffe’s The Careless Shepherdess in 1656. In the twentieth century, a consensus has emerged that Shakespeare was not the sole author, but may have collaborated on this play. To learn more about the play’s place in the Shakespeare canon, please see the first edition.

This copy is one of four at the Folger Shakespeare Library, and one of twelve listed in the English Short Title Catalogue.
